Roles & Responsibilities

• Room patients efficiently and compassionately to ensure a smooth clinic flow
• Obtain and document vital signs including height, weight, pulse oximetry, and blood glucose via glucometer
• Record thorough patient histories, medication lists, and allergy information in Epic
• Perform specimen collection and proper labeling for capillary and urine testing
• Reconcile medication lists and assist with medication histories to support safe care
• Manage prior authorizations and insurance verification to keep care moving
• Handle inbasket messages and follow-up phone calls to close the loop with patients
• Prepare charts and exam rooms to keep providers on schedule and patients comfortable

Qualifications

• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required or equivalent certification preferred
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of adult outpatient clinic experience
• Experience with Epic charting is required
• Proven experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations
• Strong communication skills for patient interaction and follow-up calls
• Comfortable with specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and routine lab tasks

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Medical Assistant certification (RMA) preferred
• BLS certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record
• Rooming patients and obtaining complete vital signs
• Medication reconciliation and accurate documentation
• Specimen collection, labeling, and basic point-of-care testing (glucometer, urinalysis)
• Experience managing prior authorizations and insurance verification workflows
• Ability to prepare charts, perform office duties, and manage inbasket communications
• Familiarity with adult outpatient clinic operations, especially endocrinology workflows
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
