Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based oncology nursing care to adults on the K9A Oncology/Women's Surgical unit
• Assess patients, develop nursing plans, and document care in Cerner EMR
• Administer and monitor treatments and medications with attention to safety and chemo protocols when applicable
• Support surgical and post-operative oncology patients through recovery and discharge planning
• Perform or assist with procedures as needed, such as echo, thoracentesis, and occasional pelvic exams
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (unit notes License RN/CNA as required) — appropriate state licensure for assignment
• BLS certification required
• Chemo Certification preferred (candidates with chemo experience will be prioritized)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (experience in med-surg or oncology preferred)
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR and standard med-surg equipment
• Team player attitude, willingness to learn, and adaptability to floating (rare) to other med-surg units

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing knowledge and familiarity with oncology patient needs
• Med-surgical nursing skills and post-operative care experience
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record
• Patient assessment, medication administration, and critical thinking
• Ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff, CNAs, and unit coordinators
