Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Perform routine tasks like vital sign checks and basic resident observations
• Document care accurately and report changes in condition to the nursing team
• Support safe transfers and mobility with proper techniques and equipment
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (state-specific) required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus
• Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and any facility-required health checks
• Comfortable working overnight shifts and adaptable to per diem scheduling

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of ADLs and basic geriatric care principles
• Comfortable taking and recording vital signs and observations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with residents and families
• Infection control practices and safe handling techniques
• Dependable, observant, and able to follow care plans and instructions
• Team player who helps maintain a calm, respectful environment
