Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for ICU patients, managing high-acuity cases including post-CABG and transplant patients
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and interpret data to guide timely interventions
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilated patients safely and effectively
• Collaborate closely with intensivists, cardiothoracic teams, and the multidisciplinary care team
• Respond rapidly and competently to emergencies and code situations, performing ACLS-guided resuscitation when needed
• Deliver compassionate bedside care and perform thorough bedside shift reports to ensure continuity
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and maintain clear communication with families

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary license will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years ICU experience (CVICU, ECMO, heart transplant or post-CABG experience highly valued)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Comfortable working in a very high-acuity unit; strong critical-thinking and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care and ICU nursing best practices
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Mechanical ventilator management
• Post-operative cardiac care (post-CABG, transplant care)
• ECMO exposure and CVICU procedures (preferred)
• Meditech documentation experience (preferred)
• Strong bedside communication, bedside shift reporting, and patient-centered care
