Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (day/evening). Typical examples: Mon/Wed/Fri 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 10:00 PM; Tue/Thu/Sat options include 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM, 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM, or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM. Rotating weekends, every-other-holiday requirement, team scheduling and occasional overtime shifts.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered chronic dialysis care to adult and geriatric patients.
• Administer dialysis-related medications and vaccines and manage PRNs safely and accurately.
• Operate and troubleshoot Fresenius 2008T machines and assist with water room operations and bicarb mixer use.
• Assess patients before, during, and after treatments; monitor for complications and coordinate escalation to the charge nurse or ER/code team as needed.
• Maintain strict infection control practices and ensure patient safety during all procedures.
• Document care thoroughly in the EMR (Clarity/MEDITECH) and collaborate with off-site nephrologists and onsite charge nurses.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Dakota
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 1 year of chronic dialysis experience preferred and/or demonstrated competency
• Comfortable learning water room monitoring and bicarb mixer operation (training provided)
• Experience with vascular access (catheters and fistulas) and common dialysis meds
• Ability to work rotating schedules, pick up shifts when needed, and be a reliable team player
• Cannot have been full-time, part-time, or PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facilities in the past 12 months (radius rule applies)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Chronic dialysis procedures and patient assessment
• Medication administration in dialysis setting (heparin, epoetins, vaccines, PRNs)
• Infection control practices specific to dialysis
• Dialysis equipment: Fresenius 2008T and water room familiarity
• EMR charting in Clarity and MEDITECH
• Vascular access care for catheters and fistulas
• Team communication, shift turnover procedures, and charge nurse collaboration
