Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and document patients across the lifespan each shift, monitoring for changes and notifying physicians as needed
• Create individualized care plans following thorough patient interviews and ongoing evaluation
• Perform treatments and nursing interventions, administer medications, and document patient condition post-intervention
• Initiate and document patient education plans and ensure patient understanding of discharge and follow-up instructions
• Coordinate and initiate discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and necessary post-services are in place
• Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff and respond appropriately to emergent situations
• Collaborate with medical staff to facilitate progress toward patient goals
• Participate in acute care nursing staff meetings, trauma meetings, departmental meetings, and performance improvement activities
• Ensure barcode scanning compliance and accurate documentation to support patient safety and quality metrics

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) credential (position is for a Registered Nurse in Emergency Department)
• Experience working in Emergency Department or acute care settings preferred
• EPIC experience required (electronic health record proficiency expected)
• Comfort caring for pediatric through geriatric patients and participating in trauma-focused activities
• Ability to function independently in the Special Care Unit within the timeframe described in the job brief
