Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive speech-language evaluations for residents to identify communication and swallowing needs
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that improve function and quality of life
• Deliver evidence-based therapy interventions for speech, language, cognition, and swallowing disorders
• Collaborate closely with nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and care teams to coordinate resident-centered care
• Document resident progress clearly and timely, including treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge recommendations
• Educate residents and families on therapy goals, strategies, and home programs to support carryover
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to advocate for resident needs and contribute clinical expertise

Qualifications

• Current state licensure in Speech-Language Pathology (or eligible for Montana licensure)
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred but not required
• Experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations preferred
• Active professional liability insurance or ability to obtain prior to start
• Up-to-date immunizations and any facility-mandated health screenings
• Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills

Education

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent graduate degree)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assessment and treatment of dysphagia and cognitive-communication disorders
• Knowledgeable in evidence-based therapy techniques and assistive communication strategies
• Comfortable with electronic health record documentation and timely charting
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary long-term care environment
• Strong patient- and family-centered education and coaching skills
