Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality stepdown care to adult patients in the PCU
• Continuously monitor patient status and intervene promptly for changes in condition
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
• Perform thorough documentation in the medical record to ensure continuity and clarity of care
• Educate patients and families on condition, treatments, and post-discharge care plans
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and maintain unit standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (NC license or RN Compact preferred)
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience, with PCU or stepdown experience required
• BLS required; ACLS and other specialty certifications preferred or obtainable
• Strong assessment skills, prioritization, and the ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients
• Current immunizations and compliance with facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of cardiac monitoring and hemodynamic monitoring in a stepdown setting
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapies
• Effective clinical judgment, time management, and critical thinking
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for working with interdisciplinary teams
• Comfort with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
