Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert intrapartum nursing care to laboring patients, monitoring maternal and fetal status with compassion and accuracy
• Assist as scrub or circulator during C-sections and other obstetric procedures, ensuring smooth operative flow
• Administer and manage IV medications, including magnesium drips, safely and per protocol
• Use Meditech to document patient assessments, interventions, and care plans clearly and promptly
• Manage high acuity maternal cases and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team for rapid, effective interventions
• Triages obstetric patients and prioritizes care in a fast-paced L&D environment
• Support patient- and family-centered care, educating and reassuring patients through labor and delivery

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state licensure required)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery / intrapartum nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• Experience assisting in C-sections and comfort functioning as scrub and/or circulator in the OR
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation system and IV medication administration (including magnesium)
• Comfort managing high acuity maternal patients and working in a fast-paced LDR unit
• AWOHHN Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate preferred but not always required

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

• Intrapartum nursing and high acuity maternal care
• Fetal heart monitoring and interpretation
• Perioperative assistance: scrub and circulating roles in the OR
• C-section assistance and operative room workflow
• IV therapy and medication administration (including magnesium drips)
• Meditech electronic documentation
• OB triage, epidural and spinal anesthesia assistance, cerclage and external version familiarity
