Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and stabilize patients of all ages presenting with emergency conditions, delivering expert, timely care
• Administer medications and manage drips safely and accurately using Alaris IV pumps
• Provide high-acuity nursing interventions for trauma, stroke, sepsis and other critical presentations
• Document care thoroughly in EPIC, ensuring continuity and quality of care
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and charge nurse to optimize patient flow and outcomes
• Engage patients and families with compassionate education and clear communication during stressful moments
• Participate in purposeful rounding and TeleHealth processes to enhance patient experience and safety
• Uphold workplace safety standards including HSS Team (workplace violence) protocols

Qualifications

• Current RN license eligible for practice in the assignment state
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, and HSS Team workplace violence training
• NIHSS competency preferred/required as listed
• Driver's license required at submittal (used to confirm 50-mile radius eligibility)
• Willingness to complete orientation including a pass/fail skills exam (90% required) and 2 unit-specific orientation shifts
• Ability to work every other weekend; no floating required but schedule is set by leadership
• Must not be currently full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity) per radius rule

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record system
• Experience operating Alaris IV pumps and managing IV therapy
• Comfort managing high-acuity patients, trauma protocols and stroke center workflows
• Skill in rapid assessment, triage, and emergency interventions across all age groups
• Familiarity with common ER drips and emergency medication administration
• Excellent communication, teamwork and de-escalation skills supported by HSS training
• Competency in TeleHealth workflows and purposeful rounding practices
