Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (day) and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (night); primarily night coverage with every-other-weekend and every-other-holiday requirement; float to ED and may assume charge shifts as scheduled

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care across MedSurg and Emergency Department patients
• Titrate IV drips and manage set-rate drips per unit protocols
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating patient flow and staff assignments
• Assess, monitor and interpret telemetry and ECG strips to detect changes in patient status
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy and transport teams for ventilator and CPAP/BiPAP needs
• Document care accurately in MatrixCare and communicate clearly during handoffs
• Participate in unit orientation and support colleagues during floating assignments
• Deliver compassionate patient and family education during acute and swing-bed care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse licensure (RN)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
• Minimum of 1 year MedSurg and ED nursing experience; 2 years noted as experience level on job details
• Charge nurse experience required or strong charge potential
• Comfort and experience titrating drips
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and ECG/strip interpretation
• Ability to float to ED and work independently when assigned

Education

• Active RN license
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and ECG/strip interpretation
• IV medication/drip titration and pump management
• Basic ventilator familiarity and respiratory equipment awareness (NEBS, O2, CPAP/BiPAP)
• Charting and documentation in MatrixCare
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Effective communication and teamwork, especially during charge duties and transfers
