Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
• Assist the surgical team during cardiovascular procedures, anticipating needs and maintaining sterility
• Continuously monitor patient status and intervene appropriately to ensure safety
• Document all patient care and surgical events accurately in Cerner
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate efficient, high-quality care
• Float to other units as needed when CV cases are not available, maintaining flexibility
• Complete required pre-assignment modules and participate in the 12-hour orientation

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for California practice (License to submit: Yes)
• ACLS and BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (CVOR or acute care experience preferred)
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system
• Ability to complete required modules (approx. 6 hours) prior to assignment start
• Willingness to float to other units when CVOR cases are not available

Education

• Active RN license; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative and cardiovascular operating room nursing skills
• Knowledge of acute care principles and surgical workflows
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record documentation
• Excellent patient assessment and monitoring skills
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Ability to maintain sterile technique and adhere to OR protocols
