Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for ICU and CCU patients, including post-op neurosurgical and cardiac cases
• Manage ventilators and advanced airway care for mechanically ventilated patients
• Safely administer and titrate vasoactive drips, sedatives, and analgesics while monitoring hemodynamics
• Interpret cardiac telemetry and rhythm strips independently when monitor techs are not available
• Act as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating care and supporting the team
• Collaborate with hospitalists/intensivists and multidisciplinary teams to deliver excellent patient-centered care
• Perform thorough assessments, document in Cerner, and communicate condition changes promptly
• Participate in unit self-scheduling and support weekend/holiday rotations as required

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure (able to practice in California)
• Minimum 3 years of ICU nursing experience (ICU-required per notes)
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (PALS and NIHSS preferred/required per unit)
• Proven experience with ventilator management and vasoactive infusion/drip management
• Comfortable reading and interpreting cardiac strips and telemetry without tech support
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Travel experience preferred for this contract role; ability to validate specialty skills (impella/balloon pumps) is a plus

Education

• Active RN license required (California)
• BSN not required per posting

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care assessment and intervention for high-acuity neuro and cardiac patients
• Advanced cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation skills
• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Safe administration and titration of vasoactive agents and sedatives
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical records and charting
• Strong communication, delegation, and charge nurse abilities
• Ability to float to IMCU/stepdown and adapt to changing unit needs
