Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-operative cardiac and cardiothoracic intensive care to critically ill patients
• Continuously monitor hemodynamics and interpret cardiac rhythms to guide timely interventions
• Administer and titrate vasoactive and cardiac medications safely and according to orders
• Manage ventilators and advanced life support devices in collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Perform and document thorough assessments, maintaining accurate and timely charting
• Respond promptly to emergencies, participate in codes, and assist with rapid stabilization
• Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families about care plans, recovery expectations and discharge needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas (or compact state privileges as applicable)
• Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU or cardiac ICU experience (per job listing)
• BLS certification required; ACLS strongly preferred
• Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills in high-acuity settings
• Comfortable with arterial lines, central venous lines, chest tubes, and post-op cardiac care
• Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams and adapt to dynamic patient needs

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of cardiac postoperative care and ICU protocols
• Proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Experience managing ventilators and caring for intubated patients
• Medication administration and titration for vasoactive and inotropic agents
• Skilled in central line and invasive line management and troubleshooting
• Strong documentation skills in electronic medical records and accurate handoffs
