Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and intake evaluations for individuals in a correctional mental health setting
• Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy grounded in best practices for trauma and serious mental illness
• Deliver crisis intervention and de-escalation when urgent behavioral health needs arise
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation that meets facility and regulatory standards
• Participate in training, case consultation, and quality improvement efforts to enhance care delivery
• Support continuity of care through clear communication with facility staff and external providers as appropriate

Qualifications

• Licensed Psychologist in California (PSY) OR Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) — valid state license required
• Experience delivering clinical services in outpatient, institutional, or forensic settings preferred
• Demonstrated competence with assessments, diagnostic formulation, and evidence-based psychotherapy
• Ability to pass required facility background checks and comply with security/credentialing processes
• Strong interpersonal skills, cultural humility, and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team

Education

• Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology for licensed psychologists
• Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field for LPCC/LMFT clinicians

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
• Proficient in individual and group therapy modalities and crisis stabilization
• Knowledge of documentation standards, confidentiality, and ethical practice
• Comfortable working in correctional or secure settings with an emphasis on safety
• Excellent written and verbal communication and case coordination skills
