Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on nursing care to patients within a correctional facility
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
• Perform patient assessments and communicate clinical changes to the care team
• Maintain safety and security protocols while delivering quality nursing services
• Collaborate with corrections staff and interdisciplinary teams to support patient needs
• Accurately complete charting, medication records, and shift handoffs

Qualifications

• Active LPN license required (PA licensure required or eligible)
• Comfortable and experienced working nights and in a corrections/jail environment
• Ability to pass security screening and background checks required for facility access
• Must comply with facility rules (no cell phones or smart watches allowed inside)
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and documentation skills
• Professional, calm demeanor with excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Previous correctional or forensic nursing experience is a plus

Education

• Diploma or certificate in Practical Nursing (LPN) or equivalent
• Active LPN licensure in Pennsylvania

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication administration and IV/IM fundamentals for LPN practice
• Patient assessment and vital signs monitoring
• Infection control and universal precautions
• Correctional facility safety protocols and chain-of-custody awareness
• Clear, concise charting and electronic documentation practices
• Effective communication with patients, security staff, and multidisciplinary teams
