Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
• Monitor and record vital signs, reporting changes promptly to nursing staff
• Support residents with mobility, transfers, and safe use of assistive devices
• Maintain accurate documentation in resident charts and electronic records
• Follow infection control practices and facility safety protocols
• Collaborate with nursing team and families to promote resident-centered care
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding while preserving dignity
• Participate in team huddles and contribute to a positive, respectful culture

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification in Connecticut (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• High school diploma or GED (see Education section)
• Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred but new CNAs who are eager to learn are encouraged to apply
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-focused attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and current CT CNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living care and resident safety
• Familiarity with infection prevention and control practices
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Basic documentation skills, comfortable with electronic and paper charting
• Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Teamwork, time management, and strong interpersonal skills
