Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting changes promptly to nursing staff
- Support residents with mobility, transfers, and safe use of assistive devices
- Maintain accurate documentation in resident charts and electronic records
- Follow infection control practices and facility safety protocols
- Collaborate with nursing team and families to promote resident-centered care
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding while preserving dignity
- Participate in team huddles and contribute to a positive, respectful culture
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification in Connecticut (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- High school diploma or GED (see Education section)
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred but new CNAs who are eager to learn are encouraged to apply
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-focused attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and current CT CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living care and resident safety
- Familiarity with infection prevention and control practices
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Basic documentation skills, comfortable with electronic and paper charting
- Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Teamwork, time management, and strong interpersonal skills
