Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients rapidly and accurately on arrival, prioritizing care in emergency situations
• Deliver safe, effective, patient-family centered emergency nursing care consistent with Calais Community Hospital standards
• Develop and communicate patient care plans clearly with the multidisciplinary health care team
• Maintain meticulous documentation to support continuity of care and regulatory compliance
• Act independently and decisively during high-acuity events to stabilize patients and initiate appropriate interventions
• Use clinical judgement and established protocols (BLS/ACLS/PALS) to manage emergent conditions

Qualifications

• Current Maine RN license or Authorization to Practice pending endorsement
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current BLS required
• ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire date
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred (previous ED experience strongly preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to function independently and make rapid decisions under pressure
• Strong communication, documentation, and computer skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Department (ED) nursing and emergency care skills
• Patient assessment and triage
• Advanced life support (ACLS, PALS) and basic life support (BLS)
• Accurate clinical documentation and electronic charting
• Clear communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to work independently and adapt quickly in crisis situations
• Patient-family centered care practices
