Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) to residents with dignity
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
• Support meal assistance and feeding when needed, and monitor intake as appropriate
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition, behavior, or needs to nursing staff promptly
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident observations
• Follow infection control and safety procedures to maintain a clean, safe environment
• Build meaningful relationships with residents and families to create a warm, person-centered atmosphere

Qualifications

• Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification — Maryland certification preferred
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or the willingness to obtain upon hire
• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and working directly with elderly residents
• Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
• Skill in safe resident handling and mobility assistance
• Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with residents, families, and clinical team
• Familiarity with infection prevention and safety protocols
