Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Provide direct bedside care in the Emergency Department and Telemetry settings
• Assess and respond quickly and accurately to changes in patients' clinical condition
• Communicate clinical changes, diagnostic results and care needs clearly with physicians and the care team
• Lead and guide patient/family education and coordinate activities of other nursing personnel
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
• Report suspected child or adult abuse to appropriate agencies and hospital social worker
• Perform and document basic arrhythmia interpretation and other required clinical screenings

Qualifications

• Current and valid RN license in the state of Illinois
• Current BLS required upon hire and to be maintained
• Current ACLS required within 30 days of hire and to be maintained
• PALS and/or ENPC required within 30 days of hire and to be maintained
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation certification/competency within 30 days of hire
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital; ER experience preferred
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
• BSN preferred
• Facility-specific credentials may be required (e.g., MICN, EDAP, NRP, TNCC) and must be completed/maintained per facility timelines

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation
• Emergency Department nursing and Telemetry experience
• Strong critical response skills to clinical changes and emergencies
• Clear, timely communication with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
• Knowledge of EMTALA regulations and mandated reporting requirements
• Proficiency with patient/family education and documentation
• Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality practices
