Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients in the operating room
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure proper instrument and equipment setup
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to support safe procedures
• Assess and monitor patient condition before, during, and after surgery and document findings clearly
• Participate in Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklists to keep practice current
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and hospital policies while advocating for patient safety and comfort

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (license verification required)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Perioperative/Operating Room nursing experience preferred
• Ability to complete Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and Trinity skills checklist
• Up-to-date immunizations and health screenings as listed (e.g., COVID-19, Tdap, MMR, Hep B, flu, 2-step PPD/IGRA, varicella)
• Successful completion of fit test, respirator evaluation, physical/health statement, and drug screen

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Familiarity with operating room instrumentation, equipment, and surgical workflows
• Strong patient assessment and monitoring skills in the perioperative setting
• Clear documentation skills and comfort with electronic health records
• Team communication and collaboration in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Ability to learn and demonstrate site-specific competencies and checklists
