Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled, evidence-based rehabilitative treatment under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
• Deliver ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises and use of assistive devices to support patient independence
• Assess patient progress and communicate with the supervising OT to adjust treatment plans
• Accurately document treatment minutes and all clinically required information in the electronic health record
• Report treatment outcomes and contribute meaningful input for discharge planning
• Consult with patients, families and caregivers to support functional recovery and carryover
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings and rehabilitation meetings
• Support and supervise OTA students under the guidance of the supervising Occupational Therapist

Qualifications

• Active COTA credential / Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (required)
• Minimum 1 year of OTA experience (required)
• Experience in long-term care (LTC) or rehab settings (required)
• Active State Licensure/Registration for Texas (Compact allowed)
• Comfortable documenting in electronic health records and accurately recording treatment minutes
• Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary teamwork and family/caregiver consultation
• Adherence to NBCOT / AOTA standards, state practice acts, and professional ethics

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and progress evaluation
• Treatment planning and implementation for cognitive and physical disorders
• ADL retraining and therapeutic activity design
• Therapeutic exercises and modalities
• Use and recommendation of supportive and assistive devices (DME coordination)
• Accurate EHR documentation and regulatory compliance
• Ability to participate effectively in care conferences and utilization review
• Student supervision and mentorship under OT direction
