Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, helping them feel safe and respected
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and feeding
• Support mobility and perform safe transfers using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Take and record vital signs and observe residents for changes in condition
• Document care accurately and communicate updates to the nursing team
• Promote a positive environment that encourages dignity, independence, and social engagement
• Adhere to infection control, safety standards, and facility policies at all times
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and support staff to deliver excellent resident-centered care

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification or completion of an approved GNA program
• Prior experience in long-term care or assisted living preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass state background check and drug screening
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first attitude
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to high-quality resident care

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic patient care and comfort measures for older adults
• Vital signs measurement and documentation best practices
• Safe resident handling, transfer techniques, and fall prevention
• Infection prevention and control procedures
• Accurate charting and clear verbal communication with clinical teams
• Compassionate bedside manner and ability to engage with residents
