Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert labor and delivery nursing care, including monitoring and responding to maternal and fetal status
• Start and maintain IVs, manage infusions and administer blood and blood products safely
• Perform fetal monitoring (EFM), NSTs and internal monitoring procedures when indicated
• Circulate and recover patients for C-section and assist with delivery procedures
• Deliver immediate neonatal care in the delivery room and support APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
• Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Support postpartum care including wound assessment, fundal checks and lactation support
• Respond to obstetric emergencies and participate in rapid response interventions

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Ohio required
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP
• EPIC charting experience required
• NCC C-EFM acceptable in lieu of AWHONN Advanced; AWHONN Advanced preferred
• Comfort with floating to other units within the OSU organization as needed
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions only)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with external and internal fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Skilled in sterile vaginal exams, IUPC and spiral electrode placement
• Strong IV therapy skills including PICC/CVC maintenance and infusion pump use
• Experience with epidural management and pain assessment
• Neonatal delivery room care including resuscitation basics and APGAR assessment
• Ability to manage postpartum care including hemorrhage recognition and recovery needs
• Familiarity with telemetry interpretation and emergency cardiac care in obstetrics
