Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to oncology and women’s surgical patients on a 24-bed unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor changes in condition, escalating concerns appropriately
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner EMR to maintain clear communication across the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following hospital policies and verifying orders
• Assist with and perform occasional procedures as needed, including pelvic exams, echoes, and thoracentesis, per unit guidelines
• Collaborate with RNs, CNAs, and other staff to maintain safe patient ratios (typically 1:4 or 1:5) and smooth workflow
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans to support positive outcomes
• Adhere to unit policies and contribute to a positive, team-focused work environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice (required)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant acute care nursing experience
• BLS certification (required)
• Chemo certification preferred and will make you a strong candidate
• Experience with Cerner or similar EMR systems preferred
• Comfortable working overnight shifts and scheduled weekend coverage
• Team-oriented attitude and willingness to learn new protocols

Education

• Active RN license (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of oncology and medical-surgical nursing practices
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical record workflows
• Strong patient assessment and triage skills
• Ability to manage care for patient ratios of approximately 1:4 or 1:5
• Comfort with occasional specialized procedures like pelvic exams, echo, and thoracentesis
