Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to PCU patients, monitoring changes and intervening quickly
• Assess patient condition, implement care plans, and document progress clearly and promptly
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—physicians, therapists, and support staff—to coordinate patient care
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely while following hospital protocols
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning to promote recovery
• Respond to emergencies and escalations calmly and effectively to ensure patient safety
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive unit culture

Qualifications

• Active RN license (TX or compact/mobile licensure eligibility preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or progressive care experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, IV therapy, and telemetry monitoring skills
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Patient assessment and rapid recognition of clinical deterioration
• IV medication administration and titration
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and clear documentation practices
• Effective handoff communication and interdisciplinary collaboration
