Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality orthopedic nursing care to post-op and medical-surgical patients
• Perform dressing changes, suture/staple removal and wound care including Wound VAC maintenance and removal
• Manage NG tubes and Foley catheter care safely and compassionately
• Assess, monitor and document patient status using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-centered plans of care
• Assist with patient mobility and safe transfers using lifts and mobility equipment
• Support unit workflow on nights and pitch in during every-other-weekend coverage

Qualifications

• Active NC RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (as listed)
• Orthopedic and hospital experience preferred
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR preferred
• Comfort with wound vacs, NG tube and Foley management and dressing changes
• Team-player attitude and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing and post-operative care
• Med‑Surg principles and acute care nursing
• Wound VAC maintenance and dressing changes
• NG tube and Foley catheter management
• Proficient documentation in Cerner
• Safe patient handling and mobility equipment (Sara Stedy, lifts, hover mat)
• Ability to work with defined patient ratios and escalate appropriately
