Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in the Cardiothoracic ICU for critically ill cardiac and post-surgical patients
• Monitor and assess complex cardiac and hemodynamic status, responding rapidly to changes
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and the interdisciplinary team to implement and adjust care plans
• Perform and manage advanced post-operative and critical care interventions as indicated
• Educate patients and families about condition, care plans, and recovery expectations with compassion and clarity
• Document patient care accurately and timely to support continuity and safety

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential required
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU or relevant critical care experience (as listed in the job details)
• Current basic life support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications such as ACLS are highly recommended
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and collaborate in a fast-paced critical care environment
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Education

• Nursing diploma or degree (ADN or BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care assessment and monitoring for cardiac and post-operative patients
• Familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring and advanced cardiac support
• Strong patient/family communication and interdisciplinary teamwork
• Comfort with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize and respond quickly in emergent situations
