Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients from admission through discharge
- Perform skilled assessments and intervene promptly for patients with central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, multiple IVs, and short-term ventilatory needs
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKGs, manage IV pumps and invasive monitoring (A-lines, central lines)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (providers, charge nurse, case management) to coordinate effective care and discharge planning
- Act as a clinical leader on the unit: guide CNAs/LPNs, assist with precepting staff, and support unit workflow and quality goals
- Document care thoroughly and maintain professional standards while providing emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients and families
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN licensure (required)
- BLS, ACLS, PALS required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- Practice experience in an advanced Medical/Surgical unit with recent Critical Care or Progressive Care experience (required)
- Certifications EPNC and TNCC preferred
- Demonstrated ability to operate advanced medical equipment and manage complex patient needs
Education
- Degree from a Nursing Program
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and direct patient care
- Vital signs and hemodynamic monitoring, invasive monitoring (A-line, central line)
- Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
- Ventilator support (invasive and noninvasive) and chest tube management
- IV pump management and care for multiple IV lines
- Collaborative care and discharge planning
- Clinical leadership and precepting experience
- Comfort with pediatric patients and a broad surgical/medical patient population
