Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, high-quality patient care to medical/surgical and critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring
- Operate and manage advanced medical equipment including ventilators, arterial lines (A-lines), central lines, chest tubes, and multiple IV pumps
- Assess patients, implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision, and adjust care as clinical needs evolve
- Act as a clinical leader: precept staff, give direction to RN/LPN/CNA and support staff, and collaborate with charge nurses and providers
- Manage patient care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning and coordination with interdisciplinary teams
- Document patient care accurately and communicate changes in condition to the care team and leadership
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN licensure required
- BLS and ACLS required
- Recent experience in Critical Care nursing and practice in an advanced Medical/Surgical unit is required
- PALS, EPNC, TNCC preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead clinically and precept staff
Education
- Degree from an accredited nursing program
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced nursing principles and procedures for critical care and medical/surgical patients
- Advanced patient monitoring and ventilator/ventilation support management
- Central line and arterial line (A-line) management and care
- Proficiency with multiple IV pumps and IV therapies
- Chest tube management and invasive line care
- Clinical leadership, precepting, and effective interdisciplinary communication
