Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive echocardiogram studies (Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler) accurately and efficiently to provide critical diagnostic information.
• Conduct advanced procedures including Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE), exercise stress echo, and pharmacologic stress echo as ordered by physicians.
• Operate and optimize cardiac diagnostic equipment (echocardiographs, stress systems, electrocardiographs, Holter monitors) to ensure high-quality data for cardiology teams.
• Perform other cardiac diagnostic tests such as EKGs, Holter preparation/monitoring/analysis, and cardiac stress testing with precision.
• Use hospital information systems for proper scheduling, processing and accurate study charging to support smooth departmental operations.
• Implement infection control, aseptic technique, and equipment disinfection practices to maintain patient and staff safety.
• Provide age-specific care across the lifespan, with special attention to neonatal and pediatric patients.
• Serve as a clinical resource and preceptor—mentor students from contracted colleges and universities and support clinical teaching agreements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential required
• Successful completion of an accredited echocardiography certification program and/or 2 years hands-on echocardiography experience required
• Preferred: Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography
• Preferred: Extensive hospital-setting experience and strong pediatric/neonatal echocardiography background

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography (preferred)
