End Date: 09-14-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; also 8-hour shifts 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM; self-scheduling with every other weekend and holiday

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $58 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, hands-on care to adolescents and adults on a locked psychiatric unit
Build meaningful connections while supporting patients through depression, anxiety, substance use, and other behavioral health challenges
Use strong de-escalation and communication skills to create a safe, healing environment
Collaborate with mental health techs, occupational therapy, and social work to deliver well-rounded care
Assist with 15-minute rounds and stay actively involved in every aspect of patient support
Float throughout the hospital as needed to provide extra support or 1:1 observation

Qualifications

Active RN license in North Dakota or compact license
BLS certification required
CPI certification preferred
Acute or inpatient psychiatric experience strongly preferred
First-time travelers welcome
Adolescent experience a plus
Patience, calm demeanor, and ability to stay composed under pressure

Knowledge & Skills

De-escalation techniques and therapeutic communication
Experience with adolescent and adult behavioral health populations
Understanding of common diagnoses including depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
Comfort working on a locked unit with security protocols
