Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive postpartum and mother-baby nursing care with compassion and clinical excellence
• Assess and monitor physical and emotional status of new mothers and newborns, intervening early when concerns arise
• Support breastfeeding and lactation education, helping families meet feeding goals
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments safely and according to policy
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge planning
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure smooth transitions of care and excellent outcomes
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record and communicate changes to the care team

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — North Carolina license or compact RN preferred
• Minimum 2+ years of recent nursing experience, with postpartum/mother-baby experience strongly preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or equivalent neonatal/newborn certifications preferred
• Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in mother-baby and postpartum care, including postpartum complications
• Newborn assessment and safe sleep practices knowledge
• Breastfeeding/lactation support and infant feeding management
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation
• Ability to triage, escalate, and coordinate care across disciplines
