Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to oncology and post-surgical patients, ensuring safety and dignity
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized care plans that improve outcomes
• Administer medications and intravenous therapies safely and accurately, following facility policies
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, discharge planning, and family education
• Document patient status and interventions clearly and promptly in Cerner
• Assist with unit procedures such as thoracentesis support and postoperative monitoring
• Advocate for patients and contribute to a positive, team-oriented unit culture

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state you will practice in
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (as listed in the job information)
• Oncology nursing or medical-surgical nursing experience preferred
• Chemo certification is a plus and will make your application stand out
• Familiarity with Cerner or other EMR systems preferred
• Team player attitude and willingness to learn unit-specific workflows

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical knowledge of oncology care and post-surgical patient management
• Strong medication administration and IV therapy skills; chemo handling appreciated if certified
• Proficiency using Cerner EMR for documentation and medication administration
• Ability to manage typical patient ratios of about 1:4 to 1:5
• Excellent communication, patient education, and teamwork skills
• Comfort assisting with or supporting occasional procedures such as pelvic exams and thoracentesis
