Shift Type: 12.5-hour shifts (start/end times vary; exact schedule confirmed by facility), RN - SDU (schedule may include rotating coverage)

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, compassionate, high-quality nursing care for patients in the Step-Down/SDU unit
Monitor patient condition closely and intervene quickly when changes occur
Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers and interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute care plans
Perform thorough assessments, document care accurately, and communicate critical information clearly
Administer medications and therapies per orders and hospital protocols
Educate patients and families about care plans, recovery expectations and discharge instructions
Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

Active RN license in Louisiana (or compact RN eligible) required
Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
Experience in a Step-Down Unit (SDU), progressive care, or telemetry preferred
Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and prioritization skills
Excellent communication and teamwork skills; patient-centered attitude

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Telemetry and cardiac monitoring familiarity
Skill with IV medication administration and infusion pumps
Knowledge of progressive care/step-down patient management
Ability to triage, escalate and coordinate care under pressure
Electronic medical record documentation proficiency
