Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide attentive post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients in the PACU, ensuring safe recovery
• Monitor and document vital signs, airway status, pain levels and recovery milestones
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and perioperative staff to ensure smooth transitions
• Administer medications and interventions according to ordered care plans and facility protocols
• Educate and support families with clear, compassionate updates during the recovery process
• Participate in orientation and unit training to maintain competencies and best practices
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation and handoffs

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) qualification — required
• Experience in PACU nursing with pediatric patient focus (Pediatrics) as indicated by the role
• Comfort working in a surgical recovery environment and collaborating across perioperative teams
• Willingness to complete facility orientation prior to independent shifts

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor level acceptable)
• Active RN licensure in accordance with state requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia assessment and recovery management for pediatric patients
• Pediatric pain assessment and intervention strategies
• Airway management and monitoring in the immediate postoperative period
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for multi-discipline coordination
• Accurate clinical documentation and adherence to safety protocols
