Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents — bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes in condition
- Assist with safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Document resident care and observations clearly and promptly in the chart
- Support mealtime assistance and monitor intake as needed
- Follow infection control policies and maintain a safe, clean environment
- Communicate effectively with nurses, families, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in Connecticut (required)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus
- Able to pass background checks, drug screening, and any facility onboarding requirements
- Reliable, compassionate, and patient-focused with strong teamwork skills
Education
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
- Valid CNA certification in Connecticut (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic nursing care and resident assistance skills
- Vital signs measurement and documentation
- Safe transfer and mobility techniques
- Infection prevention and standard precautions
- Clear, respectful communication with residents and team members
- Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
