Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to Med/Surg pediatric patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and create clear, timely documentation
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care plans
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans in an approachable way
• Monitor patient progress, respond to changes in condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives and unit-based best practices

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact license eligibility
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; pediatric-specific certifications preferred
• Clinical experience in Med/Surg and/or Pediatrics preferred
• Current immunizations and ability to pass required background and health screenings
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing principles and pediatric care needs
• Medication administration, IV therapy and patient assessment skills
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation
• Infection control and safety best practices
• Critical thinking, time management and effective communication with families and team members
