Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide attentive post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients, ensuring a safe and comfortable recovery
• Continuously monitor vital signs and patient status, responding promptly to changes
• Administer medications and pain management interventions as ordered, with precise documentation
• Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the perioperative team for seamless patient transitions
• Educate and support families about recovery expectations and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record and handoff communications
• Participate in a structured orientation to learn facility-specific PACU protocols and workflows

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Missouri (or compact license where applicable)
• Experience in PACU and/or pediatric nursing strongly preferred
• Current BLS certification required; PALS recommended or required for pediatric PACU
• Comfort managing pediatric airways, pain control, and post-anesthesia care protocols
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Up-to-date immunizations and any facility-required health screenings

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of post-anesthesia recovery and pediatric physiology
• Skilled in pediatric assessment, vital sign monitoring, and pain assessment tools
• Familiarity with perioperative workflows and PACU-specific documentation
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond calmly in fast-paced situations
• Competence with electronic medical records and medication administration systems
