Roles & Responsibilities

• Complete initial nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for maternal and newborn patients
• Triage patients skillfully based on presenting symptoms to ensure timely care
• Administer medications accurately and monitor patient responses
• Assess labor progression and manage induction of labor and cervical ripening
• Handle obstetric emergencies competently, including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, and postpartum hemorrhage
• Perform and interpret fetal heart monitoring to ensure fetal well-being
• Manage pregnancy-related conditions such as hypertension and diabetes
• Assess newborn condition and provide neonatal resuscitation as needed
• Monitor newborns for complications like hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice
• Educate patients and families on newborn care and promote involvement
• Communicate effectively with the care team to ensure coordinated patient care

Qualifications

• Hold an active Wisconsin Registered Nursing license (must be currently active)
• Two-year nursing degree required; four-year degree preferred
• AHA BLS certification within 1 month of hire
• NRP certification within 6 months of hire
• ALSO certification within 1 year of hire
• STABLE certification within 1 year of hire
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification within 1 year of hire
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required

Education

• Two-year degree in nursing required
• Four-year degree in nursing preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Intermediate proficiency with computers
• Comprehensive nursing skills and knowledge of obstetric equipment
• Thorough understanding of triage processes
• Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
• Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
