Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips for patients with cardiac conditions, documenting strips at least once per shift
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population including CHF, COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic, and post-cath patients
• Administer medications and manage set-rate drips such as Diltiazem/Cardizem
• Collaborate with charge nurse, house supervisor, and interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Float to other units as needed, including East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified
• Educate patients and families on disease management and post-discharge care

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Arizona (or multi-state compact license)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in medical/surgical or telemetry nursing
• Proficiency in reading basic telemetry strips and interpreting cardiac rhythms
• Experience with CVA, TIA, and total joint replacement patients preferred
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with 80% within two attempts prior to starting
• Cerner experience strongly recommended as orientation is only one shift

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Skill in managing patients with CHF, respiratory distress, diabetes, and post-surgical conditions
• Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with aides, charge nurse, and physicians
• Comfortable using Cerner charting system and other electronic health records
