Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to adult ICU patients using advanced assessment and intervention skills
• Manage ventilators and perform hemodynamic monitoring for critically ill and post-CABG patients
• Deliver post-operative cardiac care including monitoring after CABG and supporting ECMO or transplant patients when indicated
• Perform and document thorough bedside shift reports and keep the white board updated to support team continuity
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team including intensivists, respiratory therapy, and surgical teams to coordinate care
• Accurately document patient care in the Meditech system and maintain compliance with unit policies
• Adapt to a high-acuity environment while maintaining patient safety and compassionate bedside care

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required; temporary licenses will not be accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 2 years ICU or critical care experience (CVICU, post-op cardiac care experience a must)
• Experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Comfort working in a very high acuity unit with ECMO, heart transplant, CABG and complex cardiac cases
• Ability to participate in rotating weekend coverage and bedside shift reporting

Knowledge & Skills

• ICU and critical care nursing best practices
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Ventilator management for ventilated patients
• Post CABG and cardiac surgical patient care
• ECMO familiarity and high-acuity cardiovascular support
• CPR skills and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS)
• Electronic documentation experience, Meditech preferred
• Experience in CVICU and transplant care, daVinci robotic surgery familiarity is a plus
