Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' nutritional needs and develop individualized care plans
• Provide evidence-based medical nutrition therapy for acute and chronic conditions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care
• Create and review therapeutic menus and modify diets to meet clinical requirements
• Monitor patient progress and adjust interventions to optimize outcomes
• Document assessments, care plans, and outcomes in the medical record promptly
• Educate patients, families, and staff on nutrition best practices and safety

Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required
• Active California dietitian license or eligibility to obtain licensure in California
• Previous clinical experience in acute care, long-term care, or correctional health preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility security requirements
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in interdisciplinary teams

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
• Completion of an accredited dietetic internship or equivalent supervised practice

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical nutrition therapy and therapeutic diet planning
• Clinical assessment and nutrition-focused physical exam basics
• Menu planning, food service oversight, and cost-aware nutrition interventions
• Electronic health record (EMR) documentation and charting
• Patient and staff education with clear, compassionate communication
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and infection control in clinical settings
