Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform non-treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with care and professionalism
• Conduct thorough interview-based evaluations and targeted physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Prepare clear, timely medical documentation and exam reports, including any required addendums
• Review diagnostic information and provide objective medical opinions when requested
• Maintain required training, credentialing, and compliance with VES onboarding processes
• Communicate respectfully and compassionately with Veterans, families, and the VES team

Qualifications

• MD or DO (or equivalent physician qualification) in good standing
• Board certification or practice background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine experience accepted
• Current, unrestricted state medical license for the state(s) where you will practice; ability to meet local credentialing requirements
• Experience or familiarity with Compensation & Pension exams is strongly preferred
• Reliable access to an office within the required mileage radius if selecting the provider-owned office option
• Ability to complete required training and onboarding prior to patient exams

Education

• MD or DO (or equivalent professional medical degree)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical interviewing and patient evaluation skills
• Competence in focused physical assessment including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Clear and concise medical documentation and report-writing ability
• Ability to interpret diagnostics and synthesize medical opinions when needed
• Professional communication skills and sensitivity when working with Veterans
• Organizational skills to manage PRN schedules and timely administrative follow-up
