Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: PRN / variable days — Day shifts (times vary by assignment). Options: half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours). Current location-specific openings (provider-owned office required within 50-mile radius): Tuba City/Chinle — 1 day/week; Nogales — 2 days/week; Safford — 2 days/week; Payson — 1 half-day/week. Specific start/end times are set per clinic and will be provided with each assignment.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct non-treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations with care and attention to detail
• Perform Separation Health Assessments to support Veterans’ transition needs
• Take comprehensive medical histories and lead interview-based exams
• Perform focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Complete, submit and maintain timely examination reports, addendums, and medical opinions
• Review and interpret diagnostic results as part of the evaluation process
• Collaborate with VES administrative staff to ensure smooth scheduling, credentialing and follow-up

Qualifications

• Licensed Physician in the United States (state license required for practice in assigned state)
• Board certification or clinical background in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or general medicine experience
• Experience or familiarity with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams preferred
• Comfort performing interview-based exams and focused physical assessments (ROM, muscle strength)
• Ability to complete clear, timely reports and addendums
• Provider-owned office option: active practice location within a 50-mile radius of the assigned city (if selecting provider-owned-office coverage)
• Willingness to complete required training and participate in credentialing/onboarding

Education

• MD or DO (Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine)
• Residency training in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, or equivalent clinical experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical interviewing and documentation skills
• Range of motion testing and muscle strength assessment proficiency
• Report writing and producing medical opinions
• Reading and interpreting common diagnostics relevant to non-treatment exams
• Familiarity with non-treatment exam workflows and standards
• Excellent communication with Veterans and administrative teams
