Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
• Manage inpatient psychiatric patients (average census ~18/day) with thoughtful, evidence-based care
• Lead and participate in involuntary commitment processes when clinically required
• Prescribe and manage pharmacotherapy safely and effectively
• Document clearly and efficiently in the Wellsky EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams
• Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and a positive unit culture
• Support and mentor colleagues and advanced practice providers to enhance team performance

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program
• Active medical license in Delaware or eligibility to obtain one
• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry preferred
• DEA registration or ability to obtain DEA credentials
• Demonstrated experience in inpatient psychiatry and comfort managing a steady inpatient caseload
• Familiarity with involuntary commitments and strong pharmacotherapy skills
• Proficiency or willingness to learn Wellsky EMR
• Interest in a permanent position (not accepting Locum applicants)

Education

• MD or DO; completion of psychiatry residency

Knowledge & Skills

• Inpatient psychiatry clinical expertise
• Pharmacotherapy management for major psychiatric disorders
• Involuntary commitment procedures and legal/ethical considerations
• Diagnosis and treatment of anxiety, affective, ADD/ADHD, eating, personality, developmental, and psychotic disorders
• Experience using Wellsky EMR for documentation and care coordination
• Strong clinical decision-making and crisis management skills
• Excellent interdisciplinary communication and teamwork abilities
