Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor neuro-critical patients using evidence-based practices
• Provide advanced nursing care including neuro assessments and neurological monitoring
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately while following protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the care team to develop and implement care plans
• Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on condition, treatment plan, and discharge needs
• Contribute to a culture of safety, quality improvement, and compassionate care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana (or compact RN license as applicable)
• Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or required depending on facility policy
• Previous ICU or Neuro ICU nursing experience preferred
• Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and function effectively in a high-acuity environment
• Demonstrated teamwork, communication skills, and patient-centered mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Neuro assessment skills (GCS, pupil checks, intracranial pressure awareness)
• Familiarity with ventilator care and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Medication administration and titration experience in critical care
• Proficient documentation skills and comfort with electronic health records
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond in high-pressure situations
