Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care tailored to pediatric patients
Assess and document patient status, vitals, and pre-op readiness
Communicate clearly with surgical teams, anesthesiology, and families to ensure safe handoffs
Educate families and caregivers on pre-op instructions and expectations
Maintain strict infection control and patient safety practices
Participate actively in orientation and team-based quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact RN privileges
Experience or comfort working with pediatric patients in a perioperative or pre-op setting
Current BLS required; PALS or pediatric life support training preferred
Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by the facility
Strong communication skills and a patient- and family-centered mindset

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric assessment and age-appropriate communication
Pre-operative protocols, patient prep, and safety checks
Medication administration and basic IV skills
Accurate clinical documentation and EMR navigation
Team collaboration in a fast-paced surgical environment
