Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate med/surg nursing care for adults and geriatric patients on an acute care surgical/medsurg unit
• Assess patients and manage complex post-op and trauma-related care, including tracheostomy and chest tube management
• Initiate and maintain IV therapy, perform phlebotomy, and manage PICC/central line care and blood product administration
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to changes using rapid response and code team protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social work, phlebotomy, radiology) to optimize patient outcomes
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care and compliance
• Provide wound care, including Wound Vac management, and follow isolation precautions/PPE protocols

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the relevant state or ability to obtain licensure
• Minimum of 1 year Med/Surg nursing experience (1Y/1st timer welcome)
• Epic charting experience required
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Comfortable floating between units and working in a Level II Trauma environment (Trauma Level II experience preferred)
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/PICC line care
• Ability to work night shifts and rotating weekend coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Med/Surg patient care and acute care surgery experience
• IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs
• Phlebotomy and central line blood draw
• PICC line management
• Blood product administration
• Tracheostomy care and chest tube management
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response (rapid response/code teams)
• Wound care and Wound Vac management
• Respiratory support skills: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, oxygen administration, oral suctioning
• Isolation precautions and PPE use
• Epic charting proficiency
