Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality MedSurgical nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with confidence and compassion
• Float across units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed, adapting quickly to different patient populations and workflows
• Perform patient assessments, initiate and maintain IV therapy, and monitor telemetry to ensure patient safety
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory, PT, pharmacy, and rapid response to coordinate excellent care
• Manage care for patients with diverse diagnoses—orthopedics, neuro, respiratory, renal—while documenting thoroughly in EPIC
• Respond to emergencies and participate in rapid response/code team activities when required

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of MedSurgical nursing experience
• Active RN license appropriate for practice in Ohio
• Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required
• Proficient with IV starts, PICC/central line care, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Comfortable charting and navigating EPIC electronic health records
• Able to manage patient ratios of approximately 1:4–1:5 with strong prioritization
• Travel experience required; flexibility to float and work weekends/holidays
• Preferred: ACLS, CPI, NIHSS and prior experience in teaching or trauma level I/II settings

Knowledge & Skills

• MedSurgical and MS/Tele patient care fundamentals
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring skills
• IV therapy, peripheral/PICC/central line management, and phlebotomy
• Respiratory support skills: HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube care, tracheostomy management
• Wound care, Wound VAC and post-op orthopedic care including total joint and trauma
• Familiarity with heparin and insulin protocols, PCA, and safe medication administration
• Use of rapid response/code teams and emergency response procedures
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities
